"Dear Vic,
About 15 years ago my Doctor told me I shouldn't drink beer because carbonated beverages are bad for my high blood pressure. I swithced immediately to Bourbon. I recommend somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 of a glass of bourbon (preferrably made in Bardstown, KY) and water combined with some icecubes. It hasn't helped the blood pressure, but who cares.

A recent Vik's guest, Rachel Wetherill, relayed this piece of drinking history to Max, the bartender: "When you were down and out in the '60s, you could always order a glass of white port to which you would add a slice of lemon to make it palatible. Later, this became white port and lemon juice until eventually Silver Satin was marketed."
